Thomas P. Moushey named president-elect of Ohio State Bar Foundation

Columbus, OH (Jan. 7, 2015) –The new year brings with it a new president-elect for the Ohio State Bar Foundation (OSBF) as Thomas P. Moushey begins his one-year term.  He will help OSBF president Lee E. Belardo lead an accomplished group of 969 legal professionals who are committed to promoting public understanding of the rule of law and improvements in the justice system.

Moushey has been active in OSBF since 1998, currently serves on the Grants Committee and has chaired the Audit & Finance Committee in the past. A Distinguished Life Fellow Counselor, Moushey said, “The Ohio State Bar Foundation is doing good work for Ohio’s citizens and lawyers through its grant program. From working with AO: Advocating Opportunity to educate victims of human trafficking about their rights to supporting the Ohio Center for Law-Related Education’s statewide Mock Trial program for middle and high school students, OSBF’s work benefits people of all ages throughout Ohio.”

Moushey is an attorney with the firm Geiger, Teeple, Robinson & McElwee PLLC where his practice emphasizes estate planning, probate, business law, and real estate. He is certified as a specialist in Estate Planning, Probate and Trust Law by the Ohio State Bar Association, and previously served as Magistrate of the Stark County Probate Court.  He has been recognized annually by Super Lawyers since 2008.

Moushey has been very active with the Ohio State Bar Association, serving on its Board of Governors and Council of Delegates. He served on the Ohio Supreme Court’s Continuing Legal Education Commission, from 2005 – 2010 and is active with the Stark County Bar Association, having served as president, chairman of the Probate Practice Committee, chairman of the Real Property Committee, and on numerous other committees.

Since 1990, Moushey has served the Rodman Public Library Board of Trustees. He also serves as chairman of the Alliance Board of Zoning Appeals and has been a board member of Alliance Habitat for Humanity since 1999. He was named their “Volunteer of the Year” in 2006. An alumnus of Walsh Jesuit High School, he is a past president of its Board of Trustees and was honored with their Distinguished Alumni Award in 2003.

Moushey received his B.A. from Ohio Wesleyan University and his J.D. from the University of Toledo.
