Ronald S. Kopp joins Ohio State Bar Foundation Board of Trustees
Columbus, OH (Jan. 28, 2016)-- As president-elect of the Ohio State Bar Association (OSBA), Ronald S. Kopp of Akron will serve his two-year term on the Ohio State Bar Foundation (OSBF) Board of Trustees ex-officio.
Kopp, an OSBF Fellow, is a 35-year practitioner who has spent his entire career in Akron and Cleveland with Roetzel & Andress. Early in his career, his practice consisted of general litigation, including product liability. For the past 20 years, he has focused almost exclusively on business and intellectual property litigation. He has served in various management positions with his firm, including having chaired the Business Litigation and Business Services practice groups, as well as heading the Akron office. Presently, he is the firm’s administrative partner.
In the past, he has served on the OSBA Council of Delegates and has been a member of the Litigation Section and Media Law Committee. A past president of the Akron Bar Association, he has served two terms on that association’s board of trustees. He is also a founding Fellow and a past governor of the Akron Bar Association Foundation and a member of the American and Federal bar associations.
Kopp currently is board chair of Leadership Akron, which focuses on community leadership throughout greater Summit County . He serves as a director on the board of the Ohio Bar Liability Company, is a trustee of the Welty Family Foundation, and is a past trustee on the boards of United Disability Services, the Akron General Medical Center Foundation, and the Summit County Historical Society. He is also a past president of Fairlawn Country Club.
Kopp was selected as one of the “Top Ten Ohio Lawyers” by Ohio Super Lawyers magazine in 2010, and he has been selected as one of the “Top 100 Ohio Lawyers” and “Top 50 Cleveland Lawyers” by that publication every year since 2007. He was named the Bet-the-Company “Lawyer of the Year” for Akron by The Best Lawyers in America® for 2016.
Kopp received his undergraduate degree from Miami University and his law degree from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law.
