John S. Stith joins the Ohio State Bar Foundation Board of Trustees
Columbus, OH (Jan. 28, 2016) --Attorney John S. Stith of Cincinnati begins his three-year term as a member of the Ohio State Bar Foundation (OSBF) Board of Trustees.
Stith, a partner in the Cincinnati firm of Porter Wright Morris & Arthur LLP, has long been a leader in both the legal profession and the Cincinnati business community, and has substantial involvement with the nonprofit sector, both as a professional advisor and as a volunteer. During his career of more than 50 years in the Cincinnati legal community, he has advised a varied list of clients on matters of general business and corporate law, business structure, securities law and complex contract issues among other matters.
Stith served as outside general counsel for the Greater Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce (now the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber) for nearly 20 years. In addition, he has been listed in every edition of The Best Lawyers in America® since 1993 in the area of corporate law. Stith has received numerous awards for professional excellence and community service. He has donated his time to many civic and youth-oriented organizations, including The Greater Cincinnati Foundation, where he chaired the governing board for an unprecedented three years, the Dan Beard Council for the Boy Scouts of America, the Cincinnati Museum Center, the Cincinnati Arts Festival, Leadership Cincinnati, Cancer Family Care and the Hyde Park Center for Older Adults.
As an OSBF Distinguished Life Fellow Counselor and a former president of the Ohio State Bar Association, Stith was awarded the Ohio Bar Medal, the OSBA’s highest honor, in 2012. He is currently a director of the Ohio Bar Liability Insurance Company and has chaired that board since 2007. A former president of the Cincinnati Bar Association, Stith is the former chair of the Supreme Court of Ohio Commission on Professionalism. He was also a member of the Founders’ Steering Committee for the Cincinnati Academy of Leadership for Lawyers.
Stith earned his undergraduate degree from Princeton University and his law degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Law where he was editor in chief of the University of Cincinnati Law Review and a member of the Order of the Coif.
