Peterson honored by state bar foundation
Columbus, OH (September 30, 2015) – Joshua S. Peterson received the Ohio State Bar Foundation’s Community Service Award for Attorneys 40 and Under for District 4 on Tuesday, Sept. 29, at the Toledo Club in Toledo, Ohio.
Working in business law, Peterson is currently an associate at Eastman & Smith. He is a member of the Toledo Bar Association’s Board of Directors, the Executive Committee of the Toledo Junior Bar Association and the Young Lawyers Committee. He is also active as a part of the University of Toledo College of Law Alumni Affiliate Board of Governors, the Greater Way of Toledo’s Leadership Council, the chair of the Toledo Regional Chamber of Commerce Minority Business Services Committee and the board secretary of the L. Hollingsworth School for the Talented and Gifted.
The Community Service Award for Attorneys 40 and Under is not the only honor that Peterson will accept; he has been awarded the 2015 Toledo Bar Association’s Community Service Award. These two awards enhance the musings of his nominator: “His involvement and accomplishments would seem to commiserate with an attorney of twenty years of professional service instead of six.”
Peterson earned a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology from The Ohio State University. Graduating cum laude, he received his Juris Doctor from the University of Toledo College of Law.
About the Award
The Community Service Award for Attorneys 40 and Under is presented to attorneys, 40 years of age or younger, who contribute substantial time and effort in service to a local social service or to a local civil, artistic or cultural organization. The service must be outside the recipients’ practice of law and given without compensation. Emphasis is placed on current service. Recipients represent the ideals of the legal profession and, by example, are a credit to the profession.
