
The Foundation is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt public charity and, as such, all contributions to the Foundation are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
Unless otherwise directed by the donor, contributions to the Foundation help fund the grants that are awarded by the Foundation in its twice-yearly grant cycles. General donations and contributions to special funds of the Foundation by Fellows, Life Fellows and Distinguished Life Fellows count toward that individual's Fellows pledge or accumulated Life Fellows or Distinguished Life Fellows contribution.
Hurricane Katrina Legal Relief Fund
Promoted in partnership with the Ohio State Bar Association in September 2005, the Foundation allocated $100,000 to help re-establish the legal infrastructures of Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi, and to help meet the legal needs of citizens affected by this tragedy. The $190,000 accumulated in this fund wss be distributed in 2006.
Friends And Neighbors Endowment
The FANE fund was established in 2005 by the family of Linda Thompson Kohli in recognition of her 10 years as Executive Director of the Ohio State Bar Foundation. While contributions by Fellows and Life Fellows are welcome, this fund also encourages involvement by non-lawyers, law firms, businesses and others who are not eligible to become Foundation Fellows. Proceeds will be used to fund Foundation programs.
